English your child will enjoy learning

At primary-school age, children learn language best through engaging stories, movement, creativity, play and real communication. This is the time not only to learn the first words and rules, but also to build a positive relationship with English and the confidence to think, “I can understand and speak.”

At Fluency Way, children do more than complete exercises. They listen, speak, read, create mini-projects, role-play situations and use new vocabulary in a clear context. Activities change throughout the lesson, making it easier to stay focused and take an active part.

We choose a programme for each child’s age and level, explain new material clearly and support every learner. The course builds a strong language foundation, fills gaps in the school curriculum and gradually helps children use English without fear of mistakes.

Your teen will feel at home in our lessons if

  • You want their first experience of English to be engaging and comfortable

  • Your child finds it hard to focus on repetitive school exercises

  • They know individual words or rules but do not use them when speaking

  • Your child feels shy answering in English or worries about mistakes

  • They need to improve reading, pronunciation, listening comprehension or school results

  • You are looking for a structured programme with regular review and progress checks

  • Your child enjoys games, creative tasks, videos and working with peers

  • Clear, useful feedback from the teacher matters to you

  • You want to prepare your child for travel, international communication and future study.

What to know about Fluency Way lessons

Level assessment

Before the course, your child takes a short, friendly initial assessment. It checks vocabulary, listening, reading and readiness to speak. For complete beginners, this may simply be a brief conversation and a few easy, game-based tasks.

Forming groups

Groups are formed by English level, age and pace. We recommend separate groups for ages 6–8 and 9–11, allowing us to choose suitable topics, instructions and activities and create comfortable interaction between children.

Course length

A standard Fluency Way learning cycle usually includes 74–76 lessons and covers one academic year with two lessons a week. This is our internal programme guide, not a guarantee of automatically completing a full CEFR level. The exact pace depends on starting level, age, attendance and practice at home.

Language of instruction

Most of the lesson is in English. The teacher uses clear instructions, facial expressions, visual prompts and examples, helping children understand English without constant translation. Ukrainian is used selectively when it genuinely helps explain a difficult point or reassure a child.

Progress checks

Throughout the course, the teacher observes participation, checks vocabulary and grammar, and runs short progress and end-of-stage assessments. Parents receive updates on strengths, areas to review and overall progress.

Learning through stories

Language comes alive

Stories, characters and images make meaning clear without tedious memorisation.

More than 500 students every year

Children, teens and adults with different learning goals join Fluency Way every year.

Students stay with us

Around 70% of students choose to continue learning with us the following year.

Qualified teachers

Lessons are taught by teachers with C1 English or above, relevant degrees and specialist training in teaching children.

Small groups

Groups have up to six children. The teacher can see how each learner is doing, involve everyone in communication and offer timely support.

Age-appropriate learning

Younger children need movement, visual support and frequent changes of activity; older children are ready for more independence, reading, projects and speaking tasks. We build these differences into the course.

Modern and teacher-created materials

International coursebooks are supported by teacher-created presentations, cards, videos, songs, interactive exercises, games and worksheets.

A safe atmosphere

We do not compare children or make them feel embarrassed about mistakes. Every learner has time to think, try again and recognise their own progress.

Feedback for parents

Parents receive updates on attendance, participation, understanding of the material and ways to support their child at home.

Convenient online learning

Lessons require a computer or tablet, stable internet, headphones if needed and a quiet space. Your child can learn without spending time travelling.

What happens in a lesson

Lesson structure changes with age, level and topic. The teacher alternates activities to maintain attention and give children opportunities to listen, speak, read and interact.

Play and interaction

Practice that keeps them engaged

Cards, team tasks and movement maintain attention and the desire to speak.

Welcome and language routine — 5 minutes

Students greet one another and answer simple questions about their mood, the weather, their day or recent events. A familiar opening helps children switch into English quickly and feel more confident.

Active review — 10 minutes

Children recall vocabulary and structures from the previous lesson through a short game, quiz, cards, movement task or dialogue.

Introducing a new topic — 15 minutes

New words and grammar patterns are introduced through a story, image, song, video, objects or a familiar real-life situation. Children first hear and understand the language, then use it themselves.

  • Vocabulary and useful phrases

  • Listening and pronunciation

  • Age-appropriate reading and writing

  • Grammar in context

  • Short speaking practice.

Pair and team practice — 15 minutes

Students ask questions, role-play dialogues, describe pictures, complete shared tasks or create mini-projects. English becomes a tool for interaction, not merely a school subject.

Game or creative consolidation — 10 minutes

Towards the end of the main lesson, children use new language in a game, quest, drawing, story, board game or digital activity.

Wrap-up and homework — 5 minutes

Students name what they learnt, review key words and receive a short, manageable homework task. The amount suits their age and consolidates learning without overload.

Frequently asked questions

At what age can children start?

The programme is for children aged six and over. They need to be able to join an online lesson, follow short instructions and interact with the teacher. An initial meeting can help us decide whether a child is ready for group lessons.

New words connect with images, themes and practical situations.

Does my child need to be able to read in English?

No. Children can start from zero. Reading develops gradually, from sounds and letters to words, sentences and short texts.

Can my child join any group?

No. We first assess their level and consider their age. This helps us choose a comfortable pace, suitable programme and peers with similar experience.

Can my child join partway through the academic year?

Yes, if there is a place in a suitable group and the child’s level matches the material already covered. They take a placement test or short interview before joining.

Do parents need to help during the lesson?

A younger child may need help with the connection, camera, microphone or opening materials in their first lessons. After that, they should work independently with the teacher, with adults helping only if there is a technical issue.

Is there homework?

Yes, but the amount is age-appropriate. Tasks are short and may review words, reading, listening or useful phrases. Consistency matters more than volume.

What if my child is shy about speaking?

The teacher involves the child gradually: first through simple answers, choices, repetition and pair work, then through short independent responses. We do not apply pressure or demand instant results.

How do parents hear about progress?

We share updates on attendance, participation, assessment results, strengths and areas to review. The teacher offers individual recommendations when needed.

Are there any extra sessions?

Yes. Children can join Speaking Clubs appropriate for their age and English level.

Learning materials

The programme uses modern courses from international publishers. For ages 6–11, this may include Kid’s Box, Power Up, Super Minds, Academy Stars or another level-appropriate coursebook. We choose the specific course for the group’s age, starting knowledge and goals.

The main coursebook is supported by teacher-created presentations, worksheets, cards, songs, videos, interactive exercises and small projects. Learning stays structured without becoming a repetitive series of exercises.

Trial session

The trial follows the complete format of the chosen programme: 60 minutes in a group or 45 minutes one-to-one. The student can meet the teacher and experience the pace, materials and atmosphere of the main course.

The trial session is free when you purchase a package on the day of your placement test or trial.
